Guidelines

Submission Guidelines

We warmly invite doctoral students to submit their work, which can be at any stage of the research process (proposal, middle stages, or near completion). Contributions from all application areas and topics, directly or indirectly related to the following Physical Internet themes, are welcomed:

A.      Urban logistics (Last-Mile delivery, Urban Network Design, E-Commerce Logistics)

B.      Transportation (Synchromodality, Vehicle Routing, Fleet Management)

C.      Intra-hub Logistics (Warehousing, PI hub design, Cross-docking, Cross Chain Control  Centers)

D.      Information Technology (Blockchain, Protocols and Certificates, Track and Trace)

E.       Policy (Legal issues, Role of Governments, Stakeholder Management)

F.       Business Models and Supply Chain Management (Supply Network Coordination, Supply Chain Relationships, PI-adoption, Inventory Management, Change Management)

We accept all types of research methodologies, including but not limited to: Optimization, Dynamic Programming, Heuristics, Metaheuristics and Search Algorithms, Simulation, Case studies, Pilots, Surveys, Game Theory, Queuing Theory, and Machine Learning.

Paper Instructions
Papers must be written in English and should be limited to 20 pages long (single column). Papers must be typed with single spacing on A4 paper. A typeface size between 10 and 12 is required. Preferably use Times New Roman for submissions typeset in Word and the default font for submissions typeset in LaTeX.

The following items should appear at the beginning of the paper:

1. Title of the paper
2. Name of author
3. Address of author (Affiliation, city, Country), followed by the corresponding author’s email address
4. Abstract of 100 to 200 words preceded by "Abstract:"
5. Three to ten keywords preceded by "Keywords:"

Figures and Tables
Figures and Tables should be titled and formatted so as to be clear and easy to read and grasp. Illustrations should be as close as possible to their first reference. Care should be taken to ensure that they are of an adequate size to be readable.   

References
In the text, the surname of the author and the year of publication of the reference are given. Two or more references by the same authors published in the same year are differentiated by letters a, b, c etc. For references with more than two authors, text citations should be shortened to the first author’s name followed by ‘et al.’. In textual citations, only the year of publication appears in parenthesis while in parenthetical citations both the author’s name and the year of publication are between brackets.

• Here is an example of textual citations: Meller et al. (2012) discovered that ..., and Montreuil (2011) introduced ...
• Here is an example of parenthetical citations: Recent results (Ballot and Fontane, 2008; Meller et al., 2012; Sarraj et al., 2011) provide evidence that...   

References should be listed in alphabetical order with consistent formatting at the end of the paper. References of the same author(s) should appear in chronological order.

Feedback Guidelines

Students submitting their work are also asked to review papers of fellow students.
After the selection procedure, papers are assigned to students who are participating in the colloquium. As soon as you are selected you will receive more information!
